About The Accounting Association

The OSU Accounting Association is a student organization at The Fisher College of Business for students with an interest in Accounting. The mission of the Accounting Association is to provide an environment that allows for the development and enhancement of skills necessary for a career in business, and to provide a forum for students to network with accounting professionals, accounting faculty, and other students. We want to expose our members to as much of the business world as possible. The Accounting Association is happy to work with the firms and organizations which allow us to attain such goals. We welcome ideas from firms and organizations from all fields of business, so please feel free to contact us and approach us with your ideas for events.


General Meeting Updates:

The second general meeting of this awesome semester is coming up! On Wednesday, Sep 12th, at 7: 30PM Mason Rotunda( Mason hall, second floor).  

We will have representative from Marathon Petroleum to present lots of useful interviewing techniques. We are now in a recruiting season, I am sure all of you guys have to prepare for interviews or recruiting events. This is a really great opportunity to have real recruiters and professionals from recruiting company to share how to nail down the interview! And it also will be a nice time to network with professionals and your peers.  

As always, Pizza and pop will be provided. Don't hesitate to bring your friends.

Interviews for the Accounting Association's Executive Board are finally here. The next Executive Board will serve from Spring 2012 through Fall Semester 2012. We are currently interviewing for the following positions:

Vice President
  • Duties
    • Responsible for coordinating the Accounting Mentorship Program (AMP)
    • Serve as a general liaison between the AMP participants and the Accounting Awareness Board
    • Assist the President and attends necessary meetings including (but not limited to) Fisher's Council of Presidents meetings
    • Assist all members of the Accounting Association Executive Board in order to further the experience of the Association's members.
  • Necessary Skill
    • Must be able to manage a time while working on various projects
Treasurer
  • Duties
    • Monitor all monetary transactions conducted by the organization
    • Keep an updated account balance on record
    • Make semi-weekly deposits into the bank account
    • Keep Executive Board informed of the organization's financial standing
    • Assist with budgeting for organizational events
    • Apply for funding from outside sources such as the Union
  • Necessary Skill
    • Must be able to make responsible budgeting decisions
Vice President of Marketing
  • Duties
    • Send information for This Week in Schoenbaum a week before meeting
    • Get supplies from the Resource Room at the Union as need
    • Advertising meetings, professional events, social events, and community service events across Fisher and OSU campus
    • Contact various firms to do community service events with
    • Follow up with firms, plan, and execute at least one community events per quarter
  • Necessary Skill
    • Must be able to think of creative ways to market the Accounting Association
Vice President of Programming
  • Duties
    • Brainstorm and formulate the schedule for the upcoming quarter/semester
    • Contact presenters and explain meeting details
    • Follow up with the presenters after the presentation in the form of a thank you email
    • Provide feedback about presentations
    • Reserve room for general meetings
  • Necessary Skill
    • Must be able to write professional emails
Vice President of Professional Affairs
  • Duties
    • Plan the Accounting Association's professional events
    • Contact company representatives that are interested in attend a professional event
    • Reserve room for professional events
    • Follow up with company representatives that attend an Accounting Association professional event
  • Necessary Skill
    • Must be able to write professional emails
Vice President of Membership
  • Duties
    • Regularly updates membership information including which members have paid fees throughout the year
    • Creates document to record attendance at various Accounting Association events
    • Address any inquires regarding membership dues, current standings, etc.
  • Necessary Skill
    • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and other basic software.
Vice President of Technology
  • Duties
    • Maintain/update Accounting Association's Facebook, Linkedin, and Flickr
    • Increase the number of users of the Accounting Association's social media outlets
    • Brainstorm and implement the best ways of giving Accounting Association a strong social media presence
  • Necessary Skill
    • Must be able to learn new internet tools and software

Hello everyone,

The Accounting Association has added the a new feature to our "Companies" page. We will now be advertising events on campus held by companies that recruit at Fisher. The first events we have posted are the Ernst & Young Invasion Day and the Marathon Oil Information Session. More information about both events can be found on the Companies page. Please take these opportunities to get noticed by the companies.
